windows explorer crashes thumbnailing media

Windows Explorer crashes when thumbnailing media

Has anyone else noticed when you open a folder with say, 10 movies in it, it tries to pull up the info on them, generate a thumbnail that windows explorer always restarts because it stops working? that is the single most annoying thing I have seen with vista so far.
I would be interested in hearing other ppls experiences?
cheers

Hi,
What size are the movies? If it can be replicated, then you should file a bug report.

See the blue and white round icon with a question mark on your desktop. Click it and you will get links and instructions on how to share your sentiments (a hyperlink) and how to download the bug reporting tool so you can file well organized reports with all the needed file attachments (which the software gathers for you).

Been having exactly the same problem for a few weeks now... REALLY annoying. What browser are you running? I think the last answer I saw pointed at Mozilla Firefox as the cause of this bug.

Ok,
it
occured to me when I installed Vista on a different machine (it didnt display the problem im having) that perhaps it was a codec problem as the fresh machine without the codec didn't even thumbnail at all!
I uninstalled all codec thing, i.e. AC3 filders, fddshow divx... everything. Now it works. Oddly though, the thumbnailing is working so it might have been a codec not related to Xvid...
anyways, remove codecs and reinstall one a t a time , don't use the codec packs!
